I Get to be The One

There are moments in life where no written words can pen down, no perfect description of the moment and it just all gets trapped in that little grey matter of yours. I’d like to think that some moments are worth remembering without the need to be expressed through literal description. However, after coming across this particular song which got embedded permanently in my mind, I had a different perspective. I think that certain moments and life experiences can be expressed through words, not always literally, but in figurative language. Whipped up in a melody, it makes a beautiful piece that captures the essence of that memory.

This song beautifully depicts how blessed are parents to be given the honor to journey along with their child throught different chapters of their life. After all, that is the quintessential quintessence of being parents right? Despite the inevitable heartaches and tough times of bringing them up, every other day of your lives, having to watch that little creation of yours experience life in a different manner daily, is totally rewarding and worth more than anything you can ever compare. Let the lyrics of this song speak for itself and enjoy the celebratory pictures of little one growing up, turning one.

“Well hello,
Little baby.
Your eyes have never seen the sun
You should know,
Little baby
That I am the lucky one

I get to be the one to hold your hand
I get to be the one.
Through birthdays and broken bones
I'll be there to watch you grow
I get to be the one.

Don't feel alone now,
Little baby.
Do you hear me singing you a song
I can't wait to show you,
Little baby
How to crawl,
How to walk,
And how to run……
