As I glanced thru the pictures and whittle down the wonderful memories to fit into a post celebrating Harold & Chia Wei – it felt to me personally as thou we have raised the bar, crossed boundaries and broke tradition in many aspects. However, we found the consequences to be nothing but love and joy that radiated from everyone present. Weddings don’t always have to be fixed in a certain manner or template. Always dare for it to be yours truly.
This Datai Experience was like a marathon that involved more crunches and fewer carbs than any woman on planet earth would like. We were new to the venue, one of those first time in forever instances with a whole host of learning involved. There were more vendors than one can imagine, logistics was challenging and troubleshooting ad hoc was so very necessary. And finally on this day, when all is said and done - it was nothing else but perfect. A true reflection of two very fun people with ample personality and style.
She picked the iconic grand staircase. Never been done before, didn’t think it was possible at the beginning, but as we went along, we came to a consensus that it had to happen!
Allowing the natural native flora and fauna nestled among the tree tops be their stunning backdrop was the best decision ever. We swooned and still swoon over the grandeur and colorful cascade of florals that greeted everyone as they arrive. It was even better as we witnessed the bride and her father walk down the aisle in her gorgeous gown graced by live traditional music whilst we bask in the sunshine. What a sight to behold!
The weather was perfect and there were lots of cold refreshing coconuts made available for everyone as they embraced any form of heat thru ought the ceremony. We were all nuts about these two!
As for their dinner reception, it echoed a romantic atmosphere graced by the beautiful sand beach with waves crashing in the background – guests were greeted to a great musical performance under the soft glow of lights.
However, just about the time for Harold and Chia Wei to convey some words of thanks, the heavens opened and it started to rain on us. Guests had to move indoors and thankfully the band and musical team turned the dinner into a dance party. Everyone let their hair down, enjoyed dessert and danced their hearts out as they let the rain rumble outside. What a night of merriment!
"Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass... it's about learning to dance in the rain."
