“When Simon came back into her life, it’s the happiest we’ve ever seen of Lainey. And it shows that the best of friends will always find their way back to each other”.
Over a year and a half ago, there was a little man (yes, little as in fun-sized) who came up to our doorstep whilst we were in the midst of a company Christmas gathering, eating stinky jelly beans and scoffing down stuffed roast chicken; knocked on the door and said if he could come in for a bit for a chat.
And from that very moment he stepped through that door into ‘our lives’, it was nothing short of joy, heaps of laughter and lame punny jokes. It was the beginning of a journey and blessed opportunity of getting to know the sweetest and most epic duo, Simon and Lainey. It really did feel like a journey, as we went through his proposal to Lainey up till the very moment they exchanged their vows before a spectator of cherished family and friends.
If you were to ask what defines Simon and Lainey? The answer is the simple joys in life. And no one paves and walks that talk better than the both of these two incredible people. They are possibly the most down-to-earth folks that bask in quirky and fun things, who applies much wisdom in spending on what’s necessary and realistic, and displays filial piety and respect at their utmost effortlessly.
I think what’s real about Simon and Lainey is that materialistic items does not define their marriage nor wedding, but the honest and true love they both foster for one another overwhelms and radiates to those around them, including us. There were just quiet moments where they were sitting side by side in each other’s presence, where there wasn’t a need for verbal conversations but rather, the knowing gazes and assuring smiles to each other said it all, more than a million words could even pen. Simon’s gentle soul and truly unrelenting love for Lainey is compelling, and worth putting us all to shame. Likewise, Lainey was somebody we instantly fell in love with the moment we exchanged hellos and a huge bear hug she always generously gives. Her fun-loving, boisterous, quirky and K-pop obsessed self is highly contagious; with her random thoughts, real talks and beautiful smile that captivated all of us (and obviously Simon) for as long as we’ve known her. They portray the best reflection of kindness and knowledge, and we count our blessings for being able to cross paths. Till today, we still miss the recollections of walking down the journey together because they made it seem like a breeze throughout the entire process of it all.
There wasn’t a need to have extravagance, to spend a bomb on fresh flowers that would only last for that span of 24 hours for one nights’ worth of occasion or even to empty pockets to custom a whole lot of other ‘wedding wants’ rather than needs. To them, the priority was simple; it was all about the people and being in the moment.
We love you Simon and Lainey, and may you continue to exhibit all the love and happiness in the world and be blessed bountifully above all.
