Keep Moving Forward

Year ends are always particularly melancholic, especially as the new year dawns upon us. We’re often reflecting upon the lessons we have learnt, our achievements, our low points, our successes and what we can improve upon in the future. For us here at Moments, it is often one of our busiest times of the year! If there is one thing to be melancholic about, it is missing the love stories and romantic memories we make happen as we close out the year.

2020 began on a high note; after all, this was the year of the double digits. It comes once in a lifetime and it was a romantic way to immortalise your wedding date. It was leading up to be a year we could be proud of. We breezed through the first two months of the year, our energies sky high and our creative juices fresh. And, as wedding planners, the name of the game is: change. We’re always prepared for plans to turn quickly; we anticipate brand new information at every turn and are ready to kick into action! But we could not have anticipated this.

The COVID-19 pandemic that gripped the world in it’s vicious talons was a huge blow not just to us but to the entire wedding and event industry. From the ever-changing standards of procedure to the multitude of wedding postponements and cancellations, the invisible enemy has affected our lives and that of our loved ones both personally and professionally. And while we lament these unfortunate circumstances as we quarantine ourselves in our homes for the collective safety, it has also been a blessing in disguise.

For those we have been fortunate enough to work with in the past, they will know that the Moments team is always in high gear! We’re relentless in our passion for making wedding dreams come true and constantly chasing the ever elusive perfectionism. We barely have time to stop and smell the proverbial roses.

2020 was a much needed break for us to press pause on our breakneck speed, spend time with our loved ones and appreciate those we hold dear while we waited for our beloved wedding industry to find its footing again. Weekends with our clients turned into weekends with family, long abandoned hobbies were revived and might we even dare say, we caught up on some sleep! It has also given us the much needed time to reflect on ourselves and on Moments.

As we leave behind this tumultuous year and enter into a new one, we are filled with hope. 2021, although daunting, is our year of growth and healing. It is about reconnection with our purpose as we shift the gears and reshape our plans and goals. It is about balance and passion, navigating an ever-shifting world landscape while remaining positive and grounded in our beliefs.

It is impossible to impart our heartfelt thanks and gratitude without meeting face to face but we would like to say a socially-distanced thank you to cap the year! Thank you to our dearest clients who have believed in and supported us, entrusting us with one of the most important days of their lives. Thank you to our past clients who have become our friends and created wonderful memories with us. Thank you to our future clients for allowing us to guide you and provide you with support. And finally, a massive thank you to our team members for embracing this storm together, hanging on tight and never giving up on us.

When we look back upon this year, it will be with fondness as we remember the people we love, the memories we have made and the lessons we have learnt. Remember to think positive thoughts, keep your heads held high and your loved ones close. As Walt Disney famously said:

“Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.
We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we’re curious...and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.”
